Every image I create starts as my work before it's your photo. These terms just make sure that stays fair for both of us, and cover the practical side of how a session works. Nothing here is designed to catch you out, if in doubt, ask.

Copyright stays with me

I hold the copyright to every image from your shoot. That doesn't change if you buy prints, download the full gallery, or sell the car down the track. You're getting a set of images to enjoy and use, not the rights to the work itself.

This isn't unique to me, it's how photography works everywhere. Any photo a photographer takes, for anyone, stays their copyright by default. The only way that changes is if the photographer chooses to permanently sell or sign over the rights, which is rare and usually comes with its own separate agreement and price.

What you're free to do

Your gallery is yours to enjoy freely. That covers your own social media, car forums and group chats, a private sale listing for your own car, and prints for your wall or garage.

A credit back to KGardnerPhotography is always appreciated, though never required, for personal use.

Why companies need to contact me

Here's a simple example: say the brand of your car sees your shoot and asks to use one of the images in their advertising. Even though it's a photo of your car, it's still my photo, so they'd need my permission to use it, not just yours. It works the same way with music: you can own and play a song however you like, but a company can't put that same song in a TV ad without paying the artist for it. Your photos are the same idea.

This applies even if the company approaches you directly rather than me. Just point them my way and I'll sort it out. Commercial licences can be purchased for exactly this kind of use, get in touch and I'll put a price together based on how the images will be used, it costs you nothing and you're never left negotiating on my behalf.

A few things to avoid

Reselling the images as stock content, using them in paid ads or sponsored posts without a licence, cropping out or removing a credit or watermark, and heavy edits that change the original work. None of this is about being precious, it's just what keeps things fair for everyone involved.

What's included

I'll deliver the photography session and professionally edited images exactly as discussed, plus any extras we've agreed on. That's the deal, plain and simple.

Rescheduling & cancellations

Need to move your session? Just give me at least 72 hours notice and we'll find a new time, no drama. Bad weather isn't anyone's fault, so weather postponements are rescheduled without any fuss.

Image delivery

Edited images land in your gallery within 5 to 7 business days. Everything is delivered through an online gallery, easy to view, download and share. RAW, unedited files aren't included, the edit is part of the craft.

Creative control

I bring the experience, so I keep creative control over composition, locations, camera angles, lighting, editing style and final image selection. It's how I make sure every gallery looks like it belongs to KGardnerPhotography.

What I need from you

Arrive on time, it helps make the most of the light and the session. Present the vehicle clean and shoot-ready. Sort permission for any chosen location where it's needed. Flag any specific requests before the session so I can plan for them.

Liability

I take genuine care during every session, but I'm not responsible for vehicle damage, mechanical issues, third-party actions, fines, or anything outside my reasonable control.

Additional fees

Some locations I pick may include parking fees, which are to be covered by you. I'll do my best to let you know ahead of time if any parking fees are associated with the location. As a general rule, assume parking fees will apply if the shoot location is in a car park.

Downloading your images

Your gallery is hosted on Pixieset. Here's exactly how to save your photos.

You'll receive a link to your gallery once your photos are ready, usually by email or Instagram, along with a gallery password and a separate download PIN. Keep both handy, you'll need the password to view the gallery and the PIN when you go to download.

On a computer

Open the gallery link I've sent you in a web browser and enter the gallery password when prompted.

Hover over each photo you want and click the small checkmark that appears, or use the "select all" option to grab the whole gallery.

Click the download button, usually shown as a downward arrow icon, near the top of the gallery.

When asked, enter the download PIN I've sent you. This is separate from the gallery password.

Pixieset will package your selected photos into a zip file. Once it's finished, open the zip file to find your full resolution images.

On your phone

Open the gallery link I've sent you using your phone's web browser, such as Safari or Chrome, rather than opening it inside the Pixieset app if prompted. Enter the gallery password when asked.

If I've sent your link on Instagram, tap the three dots on the link preview and choose "open in browser" rather than viewing it inside the Instagram app, downloads work more reliably that way.

Tap each photo you want to select it, or look for a "select all" option to grab the whole gallery at once.

Tap the download icon.

Enter the download PIN I've sent you when prompted. Your phone may then ask where to save the files.

Your photos will usually land in your Photos app or a Downloads folder, depending on your phone's settings.

Please don't screenshot your gallery. A screenshot is a compressed copy of what's on your screen, so the quality is noticeably worse than the real file. You already have full access to the original, always download it properly instead.

How long does a shoot take?

Private shoots typically run between 1 and 3 hours depending on the package and how many locations or setups are involved. You'll know the expected length when you book.

When will I get my photos?

Edited galleries are delivered through Pixieset within 5 to 7 business days of your shoot. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Can I choose the location?

Happy to talk through location ideas together. I'll also suggest spots that suit the car and the light at the time of your shoot.

How many edited photos will I get?

The number of edited photos depends on the package you've booked. This is confirmed when you book, so you'll know exactly what to expect before shoot day.

Can a business use my photos in their marketing?

Not without a licence from me first. See the terms at the top of this page for the full explanation. Commercial licences can be purchased directly, just get in touch and I'll put a price together based on how the images will be used.
